1 in 7 Mexican workers employed in the U.S

The Migration Policy Institute came out with a report stating that 1 in 7 Mexicans have left their country to work in the USA. That is 14% of the Mexican work force. There are more than 7 million workers from Mexico in the U.S. labor force - up 2 million from 6 years ago. Mexicans accounted for nearly 1/3 of the 22.6 million foreign-born workers in the US. Over 50% of those workers were in the service or construction occupations. 60% of Mexican workers did not complete high school.


The report did not distinguish between legal & illegal alien workers. However, considering there are between 11 - 20 million illegals in the country it seems fair to say that most of these workers are illegal. By the way, 10% of the population of Mexico is now living in the US.

Another report from the Migration Policy Institute shows that Mexican illegal immigration between 1990 & 2000 has shown dramatic increases in states that are not along the Mexican border.

Georgia: 571%
North Carolina: 692%
Colorado: 365%
Arkansas: 440 %
South Carolina: 414%
Tennessee: 411%
Alabama: 380%
Iowa: 380%
Wisconsin: 310%
Nebraska: 300%

Remember, this is illegal immigration.

The very large number of Mexican workers are competing for jobs with American citizens who are on the lower pay scale. Their willingness for work for less wages is effectively shutting out millions of American workers, as well as students who work part time or work summer jobs. Besides taking American jobs, as can be seen above, there is a rapid cultural shift in non-border states which prevents enough time for assimilation, adds to taxpayer burdens & crowds schools ill-equipped for the sudden influx.

It is beyond time for the Federal government to do something to stop this illegal invasion. The government has failed the American public.
